Finance Guide Editors

Every guide on Finance Guide is published under our shared editorial byline. That means it went through the same process and meets the same standards, whoever drafted it.

Who we are

Finance Guide Editors is the byline for our small, independent editorial team. We don't name individuals or invent personas, credentials or reviewers. When a qualified professional reviews a guide, we name them on that guide.

We are not financial advisers and we don't give personal financial advice. We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. How we do that, and how every claim is checked, is explained in our editorial policy.

What we cover

Personal finance in South Africa: SARS and personal tax, saving and investing, retirement and the two-pot system, insurance and medical aid, home finance and solar, and banking and credit.

How a guide gets published

  1. Research. We collect primary sources: SARS, National Treasury, the FSCA, the Acts, and providers' own fee schedules and policy wordings.
  2. Analysis. We work out real costs in rand, compare products like for like, and note the catches.
  3. Fact-check. Every figure is checked against its source on the date shown as "Prices and facts checked".
  4. Sources listed. Each guide ends with a numbered list of every source used.
  5. Revisited. Guides are re-checked after each Budget Speech, and at least every six months.

We don't claim to have used products we've only researched, we don't invent quotes or reviewers, and we never sell rankings. Full details: how we research.
