What is Finance Guide?
An independent website that explains personal finance in South Africa in plain English: SARS and tax, saving and investing, retirement, insurance and medical aid, home finance and banking. Every claim links to its source.
Is this financial advice?
No. Our guides are general information, not financial advice as defined in the FAIS Act. Finance Guide is not an authorised financial services provider. For advice on your situation, speak to an FSCA-registered financial adviser or a registered tax practitioner.
Who writes the guides?
Our small, independent editorial team, under a shared byline. When a qualified professional reviews a guide, we name them on it. See our editorial team.
Do you use the products you write about?
Usually not, and we never pretend to. Our guides are research-based. We read fee schedules, policy wordings, official rules and customer feedback, and say exactly where each fact comes from.
Do you use AI to write your guides?
We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. A person checks every claim against its source before we publish. Details are in our editorial policy.
How do you make money?
Through display ads and some affiliate or referral links. If you sign up through one of those links, the provider may pay us a fee at no extra cost to you. It never changes our rankings. See our affiliate disclosure.
Can a provider pay to be featured or ranked higher?
No. We don't sell placements, rankings or sponsored posts.
How current are the figures?
Every guide shows the date its prices and facts were checked. We re-check guides after each Budget Speech and at least every six months. Always confirm current figures with SARS or the provider before you act.
I found a mistake. How do I report it?
Email hello@financeguide.co.za with the page link and what's wrong. We fix confirmed errors quickly and note them in the changelog.
How do you handle my data?
We only use analytics and ad cookies if you accept them, and we never ask for your ID, tax or bank details. See our privacy policy.
